Application for Membership

At Menomonie Alliance Church we endeavor to take membership seriously, recognizing that a commitment is being made to the local church as an expression of our commitment to Christ. If you have not already, please read the “membership information” provided to give you a background on our understanding of Church membership.

Process for Membership
This application in not a “test” for membership, but rather a conversation starter to begin the process of becoming a member. The process has three steps.
  1. After deciding to pursue membership, complete the Membership Application.
  2. Watch the membership class recording.
  3. Have a conversation with some of the elders regarding membership. This will be a chance for you to share your story and to ask questions.

Expectations of Membership

Expectations of Belief
  1. Members are expected to confess faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and evidence of regeneration in their lives. They should have a willingness to demonstrate this through baptism at the next opportunity if they have not already done so.
  2. Members are expected to hold to belief in God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; in the verbal inspiration of the Holy Scriptures as originally given; in the substitutionary atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ; in the eternal salvation of all who believe in Him and the eternal punishment of all who reject Him.
  3. Members are expected to accept the doctrines of Jesus Christ as Savior, Sanctifier, Healer, and Coming King.
  4. Members are expected to have full sympathy with the principles and objectives of The Christian and Missionary Alliance and cooperation by systematic support of its work.

*Note:  The full C&MA statement of faith is included below for your reference and as a framework for discussion with an elder. In order to focus on issues of the highest doctrinal priority, the beliefs above are those necessary for inclusion into membership. If you have questions on any of these items an elder would be happy to discuss them with you.

Expectations of Action
  1. As a member, I will actively seek to demonstrate the Lordship of Christ in all of my life.
  2. As a member, I will avoid any areas of persistent or unrepentant sin which bring embarrassment to the name of Christ.
  3. As a member of the church family, I will strive to live at peace with others within the church. I will choose love and understanding over bitterness and unforgiveness as I seek to live at peace with them.
  4. I will make regular participation in worship services a priority, understanding that the gathering of the body is a valuable part of church family life.
  5. I will engage in the work of the church with my resources, time, and energy.

Expectations of the Elders
  1. To lovingly lead and shepherd the entire church family
  2. To provide biblical teaching and counsel from all of Scripture
  3. To be available to pray for, counsel, and encourage the church family toward a greater love for Christ
  4. To lovingly correct and discipline members with the purpose of restoration if necessary

Having received by faith Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord, and being in agreement with the Doctrine of the Christian & Missionary Alliance, I hereby request that I be received into the membership and fellowship of this church. By God’s grace and help, I will endeavor to be an active and faithful member.
